Common Link Wheel Questions Answered

For those of you wondering what is the definition of a link wheel and how exactly does it work, we put this blog post together to answer a couple of the questions we’ve been receiving lately.

Have you seen any negative effects on brand new websites? Does Google Slam all the links as suspicious or over optimized?

We have not seen any negative effect on any sites that have used our service. There are a couple of reasons for this:

- All of our content is 100% unique, and written by hand to avoid spun articles/duplicated content showing up
- We use a random linking structure when creating the link wheel so the links are distributed randomly through the site
- All sites use a different C-class server to further add diversity to the link profile
- We use a network of PR3 blogs in addition to just Web 2.0 sites, so these links will always be dofollow

As far as offsite optimization causing any harm to the target site, while we haven’t seen any, the possibility of a site being banned for what happens offsite is very minimal. If this was a way to get a site banned, we could easily just target a competitor of your client, build a bunch of spam link wheels, and have them dropped from the rankings which would be the opposite of what Google intends.

We’ve found the way to get the best bang for the buck on link wheels is to use them in combination with other link building, I saw your client has links from the BBB.org so if we add link wheels, this will be just another backlink, and will help increase the diversity of the profile.

Do you set up site specific wordpress/blog/web 2.0 accounts? If so, could I add content to those on a regular basis to improve and keep the rankings?

We create a brand new page for every single link wheel spoke, and we provide you with the username and password to access it. We offer a maintenance service wherein we go back to the articles, add 100 words of content, ping them to the RSS servers, and essentially refresh the links on a 2 week and 4 week basis, and can send you over additional information on that service if you’re interested.
